CardFlight has won the 2014 Technology Innovation Award from the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA), the global trade association representing companies that offer electronic transaction processing products and services. The Technology Innovation Award is presented annually to one company that makes significant advancements for the industry and has demonstrated results with a product that is currently available in the marketplace.

This announcement came on April 9th during the President’s Dinner & Star Awards Gala in Las Vegas, NV, part of TRANSACT 14, the largest annual event hosted by the ETA. The ETA Star Awards are designed to recognize and showcase individuals and companies that have made a significant difference in the payments industry, whether through innovation, business practices, advocacy, or contributions to the association.

“On behalf of the entire CardFlight team, we’re honored to win this award,” said Derek Webster, Founder and CEO of CardFlight. “The rapidly growing use of tablets and smartphones creates opportunities across all aspects of commerce. Our company is focused on creating technology that helps others use mobile devices to accept credit card payments. We’re grateful for the award and look forward to continuing to innovate in the months and years ahead.”

Founded in 2013, CardFlight started when Derek Webster was trying to integrate card-swiping technology into his company’s mobile application and realized that there was no easy way to do that. He decided to focus the company’s energy to create a developer-friendly, easy-to-integrate software development kit (SDK) for adding swiped, card-present transactions into an app, realizing that there might be a big market given the popularity of mobile payments. Since then, CardFlight has provided technology to over 100 different customers building a wide range of mobile applications that include payment acceptance.

“The pace that mobile technology is evolving at is exhilarating. Our team at CardFlight works tirelessly to stay ahead across the changing landscape of iOS and Android devices,” added Webster. “We’re excited to be recognized by the ETA as a leading innovator and for our contributions to the payments industry. Creative and innovative technology is where the industry is heading and we are honored to be known as a company that is working to move the industry forward.
